Costuming Capaldi

The clock is ticking. We all have seen the photo of Peter Capaldi on set with Jenna Coleman filming Series 8 of Doctor Who. However he is still wearing Matt Smith’s costume. This gives us days or frustratingly even weeks to speculate on what Capaldi is going to wear. They say a picture paints a thousand words so here’s Peter Capaldi dressed up in costumes from classic children’s animated series “Mr Benn”. Every episode Mr Benn would visit a fancy-dress costume shop and is invited by the fez-wearing shopkeeper to try on a particular outfit. Mr Benn leaves the shop through a magic door at the back of the changing room and enters a world appropriate to his costume, where he has an adventure before the shopkeeper reappears to lead him back to the changing room. A fellow Whovian, Adam J Purcell from the “Staggering Stories” podcast, has wisely suggested that the shopkeeper is indeed a Time Lord. Alternatively could the “Mr Benn” series be considered a precursor to “Quantum Leap” with the shopkeeper being Al? But this is very possibly the shop where the Eleventh Doctor found his headgear. I wonder how the shopkeeper managed without his fez for hundreds of years!

Would you like Capaldi to rock one of the costumes below? Maybe you have some better ideas? Just add them in the comments box. Which costume would be best and why?
